Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahrestani said on Wednesday that his ministry will invite international companies to develop two oilfields in Karbala. Addressing a gathering while opening a residential compound in Karbala, the minister said that work in the Karbala oil warehouse suffered a delay, due to its millions of visitors. “Karbala has two oilfields; al-Kafl and al-Murgan oilfields near al-Razaza lake, 15 west of Karbala,” he said, noting that the ministry will invite international companies to invest in these oilfields. Karbala is 110 km southwest of Baghdad.
